How it works

What it measures

The ORGANISATIONAL psychosocial risk of a workforce: how a team scores across the seven HSE Management Standards domains.

Scoring

35 Likert items (1-5) across 7 domains → mean per domain (1-5; higher is better), benchmarked against UK reference norms.

The items

1
Demands · workload, work patterns and environment
2
Control · how much say over how you work
3
Managers' support · encouragement and resources from managers
4
Peers' support · support from colleagues
5
Relationships · conflict and unacceptable behaviour
6
Role · role clarity, no conflicting roles
7
Change · how change is managed and communicated

Interpretation

≥ P80 Doing very well

At or above the top 20% of organisations. Maintain and share good practice.

P50-80 Good, room to improve

Better than most, but with margin. Target the weakest domains.

P20-50 Clear need to improve

Below the UK average. Build an action plan for the affected domains.

< P20 Urgent action needed

Bottom 20%. Prioritise: consult staff, identify causes, act and review.

Organisational assessment (workforce means), not an individual diagnosis. Uses public 2008 HSE norms.

Under the physician's clinical judgement

  • This is an organisational risk assessment under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 — not a diagnostic or screening test for any individual worker.
  • Results reflect working conditions, not individual health; combine with sickness-absence, turnover and qualitative data before acting.
  • Calculation runs locally in your browser — no data is stored (UK GDPR / Data Protection Act 2018). Aggregate survey data only; never identifiable individual responses.
  • For official benchmarking and reporting use the HSE Analysis Tool; this scorer uses public 2008 norms.
  • See the full framework at United Kingdom · psychosocial / Management Standards.
